Shooting Start of “REAL LIFE GUYS” (WT)
On 18 April, the first take was made for our new feature film REAL LIFE GUYS. Filming will continue until mid-June in Hesse, Lower Saxony and Iceland.
REAL LIFE GUYS is a warm-hearted and authentic story about three siblings who live the great adventure with an irrepressible zest for life and become a social media phenomenon – until fate intervenes. An unbelievable but true story that has moved the whole of Germany. A declaration of love to life.
Directed by Maria-Anna Westholzer (“Heute stirbt hier Kainer”), the German tragicomedy stars the talented young actors Richard and Anton Fuchs as Philipp and Johannes Mickenbecker. They are joined by Kya-Celina Barucki (“We Children from Bahnhof Zoo”), Victoria Mayer (“Close to the Horizon”), Alexander Hörbe (“Babylon Berlin”), Michael Schweisser (“Schloss Einstein”), Amelie Willberg (“Peacemaker”), Samirah Breuer (“Ein Sommer am Gardasee”), Serge Mateso, Janina Fautz (“Wilsberg”) and Laurenz Lerch (“Summer of ’44”). The other ensemble includes numerous familiar faces from the social media world.
The script was written by Lynda Bartnik, and the creative team includes Martin Schlecht (DoP), Anette Reuther (production design) and Monika Gebauer (costume design).
Vincent de la Tour, EVP Country Manager DACH, and Germar Tetzlaff, Director Local Productions & Acquisitions GSA of Paramount Pictures, emphasise how pleased they are to be working with Lieblingsfilm again. “Real Life Guys is a feature film with a lot of drama and suspense, but also lightness, humour and contemporary messages that appeals to a young as well as older target group – and for which they have the right partners on board.” Says Germar Tetzlaff.
Thomas Blieninger, producer Lieblingsfilm, sums up the project: “The story of the Real Life Guys combines fun and action with drama and hope. I believe that this film will be an unforgettable cinema experience.” Sven Fockner, Producer Real Life Film, recalls, “When I met the twins in 2018, I immediately thought: a life like a motion picture! Luckily, Lieblingsfilm saw it the same way and we were able to win a competent partner for the development and realisation.”
Johannes Mickenbecker will be seen in a cameo appearance and says: “I am delighted that the film is now being made. Even though Philipp unfortunately won’t be able to see it, it was always a dream of his that many people would be encouraged by his story.”
REAL LIFE GUYS is a co-production of Lieblingsfilm and Real Life Film. The cinema project is supported by HessenFilm und Medien GmbH, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the German Federal Film Fund and the German Federal Film Board, Nordmedia and the Bavarian Banking Fund. The film is scheduled to be released in 2024.
