Thomas Blieninger, born in Vilsbiburg in 1973, came to film from journalism: until 2003 he worked as an editor and editor-in-chief at the trade magazine Blickpunkt:Film before moving from the newsroom to the film set.
As a producer and head of production at Lieblingsfilm GmbH, he oversees the budgeting and technical realisation of ambitious cinema projects — financing, scheduling and physical production — forming the production backbone of the company.
As head of production, and previously as production manager, he has worked on a wide range of cinema and television productions since 2004, including before Lieblingsfilm was founded, with companies such as d.i.e. film GmbH, teamWorx, Geißendörfer Film and TV60. As a producer, his credits include the elaborate fantasy trilogy after Kerstin Gier’s novels (Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, Emerald Green) as well as Mountain Miracle (Amelie rennt) and Wintertochter, both winners of the German Film Award for Best Children’s Film.
Most recently he produced the feature film Life Is Now – The Real Life Guys (2025), which was awarded the Grand Prize of the City of Chemnitz at the SCHLiNGEL Film Festival.
