Robert Marciniak (Dreiviertelmond, Rubinrot) producer with Lieblingsfilm: “We have been developing the material about the eventful life of Bernd Trautmann for five years now. The German was taken as a prisoner of war by the Brits before becoming a football idol in England. We have developed the script together with Nicholas Schofield, Bernd Trautman and Marcus H. Rosenmüller and after Bernd Trautmann’s sudden death in the summer of 2013 were able to secure sponsorship funds from the European Union and the FFF-Bayern. Since then we have been working closely with Bernd Trautmann’s widow and the Bernd Trautmann Foundation.”
The casting for the main English roles is about to begin in London. The filming of this 15m Euro English speaking production will begin in German and England next year.
