FAMILIE IS NICH TV PREMIERE

A small village in Brandenburg. This is where ANNE lives – ready to shut anyone up who might try to cross her. Her husband has been dead for years, she’s estranged from the village, and her daughter drove her away long ago. Her heart is protected by towering walls. After all, if no one is close enough, no one can hurt her. Anne has built her life around this principle.

Then one day, seven-year-old TILDA stands at her door, needing a new home because her mother is in prison. That mother is none other than Anne’s daughter, JULIA.

Reluctantly, Anne takes in her granddaughter, determined to get rid of her at the first opportunity. But Tilda, just as strong-willed and stubborn as Anne, relentlessly works her way into Anne’s heart. Tilda not only brings the old conflict with Julia to the surface, but she also forces Anne to step out of her isolation and reconnect with the village community. Slowly, Anne also begins to open up to HOLGER, the village mayor, who has shown quiet interest in her for years.

When Julia is released from prison, Anne will do anything to keep her granddaughter. But Julia is determined to get her daughter back at all costs. The battle over Tilda forces Anne and Julia to face the past that separates them – and to try, at last, to overcome the unspoken blame and disappointments between them. For Tilda. And for themselves.

FAMILIE IS NICH is a story about three strong-headed women from three generations, and the healing power of reconciliation.
