16 year old Gwendolyn Shepherd is just a normal teenager. Except for the one minor detail that her family keeps secret: A mysterious ‚time-travel gene‘ is being passed on for centuries and carriers of the gene can – and have to –  travel into the past. Suddenly the carpet is being pulled from under Gwen and she is being flung into a different century. Her life so far, mainly consisting of girlfriends, school and cinema, is being turned upside-down.

An ancient, obscure secret lodge enters Gwen’s life. The ‚Guardians of the Earl of Saint Germain‘, as the powerful members call themselves, are in possession of the so-called chronograph. It will help to control Gwen’s jumps in time.
Gwen becomes totally confused when she meets good-looking Gideon de Villiers who suffers from the same phenomenon. No one in the lodge seems to have any trust in her. Luckily there is her best friend Leslie who supports her in both word and deed.
Against their will Gideon and Gwen become travel companions on their journeys through time in the service of the lodge. Gideon behaves arrogantly towards Gwen who is annoyed by his loftiness and irritated that her heart beats faster when she looks at him.
The powerful lodge’s goals remain top secret and Gwen’s inquiries continuously stay unanswered. A visit to the 18th century and the founder of the lodge, the legendary Earl of Saint Germain, is supposed to bring Gwen up to speed. But the Earl possesses sinister powers and warns Gwen not to revolt against him. Gwen fells confirmed in her suspicion against the wheelings and dealings of the lodge. Something isn’t right. What are they planning to do with her? There is only one chance to find out: She has to find the prophecies that are being guarded as top secret holy relicts by the lodge. She embarks on an adventurous hunt through time together with Gideon. She discovers that she is the last piece of a puzzle that the Earl needs to reach his goal.
